Hayya Namaz — Help

Questions or problems? Email euleraibot@gmail.com. You can write in Bengali, English or Japanese.

The prayer times don't match my mosque. How do I change the calculation method?

Hayya automatically uses the most common method in the country you are in: Islamic Foundation Bangladesh (Karachi method, Hanafi Asr) in Bangladesh, ISNA in the United States, Muslim World League in Japan. If your mosque uses another method:

  1. Tap Settings at the bottom.
  2. Under Prayer calculation, tap Change.
  3. Choose the Calculation method and the Asr time.

To go back to the automatic choice, pick "Automatic". A difference of a minute or two is normal; for exact times, follow your mosque.

Will the adhan sound when my phone is on silent?

On iOS 26 and later, yes, if you allow alarms. Each prayer then rings the adhan as an alarm, even on silent or in a Focus. Tap Play full Adhan to hear the whole adhan, or Stop to stop it.

  1. In Settings → Adhan & reminders, keep Prayer notifications and Adhan at prayer time on.
  2. When Hayya asks to use alarms, tap Allow.
  3. If you tapped "Don't Allow" by mistake: open iPhone Settings → Apps → Hayya and turn on Alarms. (While alarms are off, Hayya's Settings shows a note in red.)

On earlier versions of iOS, each prayer comes as a time-sensitive notification with the adhan. It comes through a Focus, but it makes no sound while the ring/silent switch is set to silent. Tapping the notification plays the full adhan.

The adhan stopped coming.

How do I turn the adhan or the notifications off?

Settings → Adhan & reminders: turn off Adhan at prayer time to keep a plain notification without the adhan, or turn off Prayer notifications to turn everything off.

Why does Hayya need my location? What if I say no?

Prayer times and the Qibla depend on where you are. Hayya asks only for "While Using the App", and your location never leaves your phone. Approximate Location is fine. Without location the app can't show prayer times. To turn it on later: iPhone Settings → Apps → Hayya → Location → While Using the App.

What do I do when I travel?

Just open Hayya once when you arrive. It notices the new country and time zone, updates the prayer times and the adhan, and tells you so with an "Assalamu alaikum" message. No internet is needed. If the place looks wrong, open the app again outdoors, or check Location in Settings.

How do I change the language?

At the top of Settings, choose বাংলা / English / 日本語, or tap the language button at the top of the Prayers screen. The app's language is separate from your iPhone's. Only the permission messages are shown by iOS itself, so they appear in your iPhone's language.

Can the text be bigger?

Yes: Settings → Text size. Hayya also follows your iPhone's text size setting.

The Qibla arrow looks wrong.

Hold the phone flat in your palm, away from metal, magnets and magnetic phone cases. If it says "The compass needs fixing", move the phone in a figure 8 a few times.

How do the Quran lessons work?

In the Quran tab, choose Memorize surahs. Each verse has three steps: Listen, Say along, then On your own. The big line is the pronunciation, with the Arabic, the meaning and a short note below it. The recitation is Sheikh Mahmoud Khalil al-Husary's slow teaching recitation. Each surah you learn opens a flower in your garden. Every so often a flower "needs water": two short games to refresh that surah. Wrong answers carry no penalty. To change your weekly goal: Settings → Learn the Quran → Weekly goal.

Where is my learning progress kept? Will it move to a new phone?

Only on your iPhone. If you set up a new iPhone from a backup of the old one, it usually comes along. Deleting the app deletes your progress. To start again: Settings → Start over.

I found a mistake in a pronunciation or a translation.

Thank you. A wrong pronunciation gets memorized, so we take these seriously. Email euleraibot@gmail.com with:

The meanings are published translations, used word for word; if one looks wrong, we'll check it against its source.

Is the app free? Do you collect my data?

Yes, it's free, with no purchases and no ads. No data is collected: there's no account, no tracking, and your location never leaves your phone. Details: Privacy Policy.
